MIN 115 - land at Lord Anson's Wood, near North Walsham
Representation ID: 98486
Received: 18/10/2019
Respondent: North Walsham Town Council
North Walsham Town Council has reviewed the above Plan and would like to respond with the following comments:-
* The site of the proposed quarry is close to the site of the 1381 Battle of North Walsham and the access road definitely crosses the site. We have concerns at the impacts the works may have on any traces of this nationally important event. We would wish to see an archaeological presence to oversee the clearance and topsoil strip operations and inclusion of an interpretation area for the battle at a suitable location.
* The plan does not reflect the planned expansion of North Walsham under NNDC's Local Plan 2016-2036. This will bring residential development several hundred metres closer to the quarry site, than envisaged in the draft Minerals Plan. The implications on noise and dust should reflect this.
* We are concerned at the loss of woodland habitat, which won't be fully re-established for at least another generation, after the project has been completed.
We hope you will take these comments into consideration before making any decisions on the Norfolk Minerals and Waste Local Plan and if you would like to discuss this further please contact us.
