Representation ID: 91695

Received: 29/06/2018

Respondent: Ms S Salt

Representation Summary:

I am appalled to hear that Brett's Aggregate Company are, once again, applying for the Waveney forest at Fritton to be designated as a gravel pit.

10 years ago the local community fought to preserve this woodland

Surely this application should be rejected completely with no option to reapply?

In a society that is becoming more conscious of our need to preserve forest land and green open spaces for the sake of our environment, diversity of flora and fauna and the basic need for clean open space I trust that you and your colleagues will see that this change in designation can not be granted.

This space should be used and operated for the good of the community as a clean, outdoor space for all to enjoy whilst preserving the trees and wildlife it supports. Surely this is the only way forward if green targets have any chances of being met?

To designate this space as a gravel pit will mean destruction of the tress and wildlife and a huge increase in pollution caused by the excavation and trucks transporting gravel. This is devastating to both the local environment and further afield too.

If the destruction of the environment is not enough to reject this application and protect the woodland for generations to come then please also consider the danger of the significant increase in pollution.

I urge you and your colleagues to do what is right and protect this space from any kind of designation which will result in it's destruction.
