Specific Site Allocation Policy MIN 200 (Carbrooke)
Representation ID: 93287

It is accepted that phased working will be required so that no extraction takes place on this extension area until working has ceased within the existing extraction area at Carbrooke Quarry. Indeed this is a requirement of the third bullet. However, it should not be a requirement that extraction on this site is prevented by extraction on other sites in the area which is a requirement of the penultimate bullet. This requirement duplicates the third bullet and is, in any event overly restrictive and so the third bullet should be removed from the Policy.

This Site will make a valuable contribution of high-grade aggregate to the total mineral resource required over the Plan Period, i.e. until 2036 and the Site should therefore be made an Allocation. Mineral extraction on land immediately to the south at Carbrooke Quarry has taken place over a considerable number of years without significant impact and without complaint.
